Artist's Statement

I've been interested in needlework from being a child as my mother was a professional dressmaker and taught my sisters and me to knit and sew at an early age. Now I'm nearing retirement age I have rediscovered the joys of embroidery, and began City & Guilds Embroidery Level 3 in 2007. It was hard work, but after 5 years I finally completed it. I enjoyed the course but I feel it was just the start of things. It has helped me to identify the aspects of textile work that I enjoy (and those I don't like doing!). I hope to explore machine embroidery and computer design in more depth and develop the ideas of combining these further.

I have only recently joined One Step On and am looking forward to working with the group in the future.
