Artist's Statement

Whilst working towards my City and Guilds qualifications I developed an interest in working with a wide variety of materials, including wire and perspex.
My sources are varied and inspiration is often a mixture of ideas, combining the current topic chosen by One Step On with thoughts of my own and experimentation with different materials. The materials themselves often give direction to the work. Colour has always been and seems to be becoming more important to me.
Changing skies fascinate me and I have taken many photographs of them, some of which I have transferred to fabric and used in embroideries.
Recently I have been on a course to learn to use an embellishing machine - which opens up another range of exciting possibilities.
